One of my all-time favourites. The whole album takes me places, but New Grass especially is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.

William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops II (2003)
This is really cool, I'm pretty sure I mentioned this guy to you before and I was surprised you had never heard of him. I finally got around to listening to one of the albums in his Disintegration Loops series, and I'd explain the background around these albums but I found an article that does it better than I ever could here. If you like this I'll try and hunt down the other three albums and put them up too.
Ocean Beach - Red House Painters
In my opinion a severely underrated album by them. I easily like it as much as there first two (and most acclaimed) albums, and it has one of my favorite RHP songs, Shadows. Not as dark as the first two, but still has a melancholy edge.

Lost Verses Live - Mark Kozelek
This guy is an awe-inspiring songwriter, and this album is proof. I can drift away to this like nothing else.

The Antlers - Hospice (2009)
This one's really good, and as you saw it's my favourite album of the year behind MPP. Most of the songs here are quite beautiful, and it has a pretty neat lyrical concept too if you're into that kinda thing.
Clark - Totems Flare (2009)
Had this one on my list of albums from this year to listen to, and now I'm mad that I waited so long to listen to it. Very intense yet catchy IDM, my favourite tracks are Growls Garden, Rainbow Voodoo, and Future Daniel. Plus the production will blow you away.

Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort (2003)
This criminally underrated album has become a new favourite of mine. It effortlessly switches from glitchy IDM a la Venetian Snares to shoegaze-inspired pop songs while remaining very cohesive as a whole. I can't really explain it better than that, just listen.

Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it In People (2002)
One of my favourite indie rock albums. "Anthems for a Seventeen-Year Old Girl" followed by "Cause = Time" are two of the best back-to-back songs I've heard on any album.

Francois-Eudes Chanfrault
A very eerie soundtrack to one of the best horror movies I've ever seen. We'll have to check the movie out sometime as well.

David Sylvian - Secrets of the Beehive
Very cool melancholy album that is hard to describe stylistically. The Boy with the Gun is a favourite of mine.

I See A Darkness - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
The first Country-ish album I found myself really enjoying. Might be a new thing. Damn this guy can write a dark tune.
Edit: Changed link, hopefully works now.

maudlin of the Well
Bath and Leaving Your Body Map are "companion albums" that were both released in 2001. I'd recommend listening to Bath first; not only is it a tad more accessible but when you look at the interludes it's clear that Bath should be treated as the first album (Interludes 1 and 2 are on Bath, and Interludes 3 and 4 are on LYBM).
Also, you can download their new album Part the Second from their website here. It was a fan-funded project and thus was released on the internet by the band for free. It's available in mp3 v0, FLAC, and WAV formats.

Anaal Nathrakh - Eschaton
I dunno if you've checked these guys out yet, but you definitely should! They combine all the best elements of extreme metal in my opinion. Among the best metal bands out there today.

Kashiwa Daisuke - Program Music I (2007)
Electronic meets modern classical. A "glitch orchestra" as I've heard someone describe it. Great night music.
Infidel?/Castro! - Bioentropic Damage Fractal (2005)
I'm not exactly sure how I feel about this one yet. I know I like it though. Unlike anything you've ever heard, that's for sure.

Peccatum - Lost in Reverie
Well, I don't know too much about these guys and have only heard a few tracks off this, but what I heard sounded interesting. Usually Ihsahn makes good stuff, so hopefully that carries through to this.

Boris
Well, here's a whole whack of Boris for ya. As you probably already know, their discography is pretty big, but I think this covers the essentials. You get the best of their dronier stuff (Amplifier Worship, Flood, and Feedbacker), their stoner rock stuff (Heavy Rocks, Akuma no Uta, and Pink) and their psychedelic stuff (Rainbow and Smile). Hope you enjoy it.

Welcome
Hey Nick, welcome to our music blog! I'll just explain how to upload albums onto here so we can get things rolling.
Firstly, you'll have to compress the album folder into either a .zip or .rar file. I think I remember you saying that you don't have WinRAR so I'll compress mine in .zip for you. With WinRAR you do this by right-clicking on the folder and clicking "add to archive" so it should be something similar.
Now we can upload the file. You can use either Mediafire or Megaupload, but I'll probably be using Mediafire cause I like it better. It's pretty straightforward on both sites how to upload, just browse for the file on your computer and upload it. Once it's done, you can post the link on this blog and we're good to go.
